The heart of the solution is the Orion Engine that constantly monitors data availability status. If necessary, the Engine will even automatically manage failover or switchover procedures. The IBS High Availability solution not only provides continuous availability for iSeries-based software, but can also extend high availability to MS Windows-based applications.
IBS High Availability is a comprehensive solution that is easy to use, thanks to its single-view interface based on Java and XML. Using point-and-click functionality, users can quickly configure the solution's Navigator to provide a single view of an enterprise's entire mixed-platform environment. This environment can be managed from the Orion Navigator, providing maximum control over any system availability needs.

IBS High Availability replicates all data objects, such as physical files, data areas, and data queues, in real time to a second server or partition. The objects are always available with the highest integrity on an active, available system in the event of planned or unplanned downtime.
Because replication extends to non-data objects, such as configuration files and user profiles, a target machine is ready for users to switch on and continue working with in the event of planned or unplanned downtime.
SAVE TIME AND RESOURCES
Resource-intensive jobs, such as data queries or report generation, can be off-loaded to secondary servers, saving users' time, resources and processing power, thanks to active information replication.
Replication is based on database changes and supports triggers, constraints and referential integrity. In addition, only altered data changes are transferred and applied to the target machine through sophisticated sub-setting and filtering mechanisms, enabling the efficient use of processor power and network bandwidth.
FLEXIBLE ADMINISTRATION
Administrators have the flexibility to choose either remote journaling or local journaling. With remote journaling, the transport of data between servers is natively managed by the operating system, and the latest data changes are transferred to the replicated server before they are applied to the source server. With local journaling, all journaling, journal management and transport are efficiently managed by IBS High Availability.
