IBS Finite Planning gives you the ability to handle finite capacity and workloads from planning to manufacturing order entry. It helps you work out critical issues such as open orders, work overload, material shortage and production based on remaining capacity. You can also obtain capacity/ workload information for many processes in your operation.
BOTTLENECK PLANNING
With IBS Finite Planning, the rules for bottleneck planning are set up on a work center level and allow one critical resource per product. Two different principles can be used to determine how the critical resources should be handled when a manufacturing order is placed:
1. Allow a work center to be overloaded when entering orders.
2. Check and reschedule an order to the first available date (the first date that does not result in an overload).
The first principle can be used in a situation where you want to first create order proposals on a rough basis, then detail-plan the critical resource. The detail planning is aided by the re-scheduling function for a critical resource for a specific sequencing (for example, color sequence).
MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS PLANNING (MRP)
When MRP is calculated with IBS Finite Planning, all of the order proposals that are created are also prioritized. The lowest priority value has the highest priority based on the type of demand. In a situation where the loads are high, it's possible to override the traditional manner of creating an order proposal.
At the time of calculation, the option to 'Include safety stock' will result in the reduction of quantity on hand, placing this in safety stock. In addition, by choosing to override the 'Use order rule' option, all proposals will be created according to the 'lot-for-lot' order principle. These two fields, along with the choice to include sales quotations in an MRP run, allow for far more flexibility, especially in an environment that has costly capacity shortages.
Another feature of the MRP run allows you to choose the variant to be used when reading the structure for next level. Because this is an optional field, the main variant will be used if no value is entered.
SHORTAGE AND PRIORITY ANALYSIS
When pull-planning proposals are created, shortage and/or priority analyses are performed. However, an additional warning is also included to indicate any overload that might happen. Scheduling takes account of finite resources and is made at the precise time that a proposal is released, which gives your operations more flexibility.

Priority analysis allows you to see all components needed for manufacturing sorted by urgency.
ROUGH-CUT DISPOSAL CHECK ON MATERIAL AND CAPACITY AT SALES ORDER ENTRY
When material and/or capacity availability is confirmed for a scheduled product, IBS Finite Planning first always checks your normal stock. If no such stock is on hand within the item's planned time frame, an availability check is then performed on the product's BOM and/or BOR.
The result is a new calculation that takes into consideration 'best delivery date', allowing you further insight and planning flexibility.
If an item creates a Back-to-Back (BtB) manufacturing order, IBS Finite Planning will perform a detail check for overload and workload restriction (the dates when the item is allowed to be produced), in order to determine the correct delivery date.
RE-SCHEDULING MANUFACTURING ORDERS
In order to ease overloads in critical work centers, you can re-schedule items whose manufacture has not yet started. Re-scheduling is carried out based on item priority. This helps you give the most attention to important customers or pressing orders, allowing operations to take care of stock orders later. You can define the criteria for priority ranking, which can include sales priority, profit value and invoiced amount.

Proposals from IBS Finite Planning can be graphically displayed and changed in IBS PlannerView, with many options to edit manufacturing order specifications. All order proposals created in MRP that have problems based on their requested requirement date also have a best delivery date, which is calculated based on the available capacity and material.
